Hello my friends!
Much has changed since the last time I posted an update, and the last few months have been a mixture of good and bad news...
First, we'll get the bad news out of the way. A while back I talked about the creation of a new company called Orbweaver Studios and a new game called Ruin. The short version is that for now I am effectively no longer part of Orbweaver, or Ruin's development. The primary takeaway is that I'm back on my own and continuing under "Gravity Games", for the foreseeable future.
Now, to the good news. For the past several (several) years, I've built a new 3D "engine" for CTHON II, "engine" being in the context of the Game Maker Studio 2 engine. Although its still Game Maker like its predecessor, its tech is essentially that of Doom's rather than Wolfenstein's, if you're familiar with CTHON 1. Generally, I dislike showing my games at an early development stage, but I plan to put up some progress shots in a subsequent post soon, as I think if you've been following me all these years on itch, with very few updates, you deserve to know where CTHON is going next.
Much of CTHON II's design is influenced by my own thoughts on how to improve the game (and shooters with procedural dungeon elements in general), as well as what my friends, colleagues, and you, the players, have suggested over the years. Feel free to comment below and tell me what you'd like to see in CTHON II, anything you liked and disliked about CTHON, etc. No promises can be made of course, but its always helpful to know what everyone's thoughts are. I appreciate everyone who has followed me over the years, as your interest is a big factor in why I'm continuing. Here is to a bright future for CTHON!
