Half-Way There!

Bug vs. Boxes
A browser game made in HTML5

Half way through the GitHub GameOff game jam and things are actually pretty under control this time around 🤞.

Lots done:

  • Basic gameplay, audio and graphics implemented âœ”
  • Learned basic 2D physics coding with matter.js ✔
  • Implemented physics based audio âœ”
  • Developed a procedural audio Ladybug language âœ”

As for many of my hobby code projects I developed this entirely in the browser using Glitch and Pixlr and tried to take full advantage of the web platform - no compile, no frameworks.

This imposes surprisingly few limitations and allows me to pop online any time with what ever device is handy (usually my kid's Chromebook) - initial audio work was completed in the car park during basketball training for example.

Next up I want to improve the UX and look of the GUI elements, flesh out the audio and work on gameplay balancing.

Thanks for reading, let me know what you think of Bug vs. Boxes so far and how you would like to see it develop.
