Version 1.3 brings with it improvements to the skipping speed. As seen in below video (warning - may contain spoilers):
If the normal version still skips slowly, please try the 32-bit version. Otherwise there's always Fast Skip.
Fast Skip (Skip to next choice/next unread line) is a Ren'Py feature that has been available in CO since launch - just right-click the skip button to get the option.
If you've already downloaded the game just download the xpatch03.rpa and drop it into the folder named "game". This will update the version to 1.3 (which can be verified in preferences -> help -> about)
