Ascendance - Devlog 9

*Gently pushes the several crickets that have settled in here to the side*

Hey guys! It's been a while since our last devlog for a few reasons, some great, some not so great. Just life, you know?

I am back to working on the game finally though, ah! (´▽`ʃ♡ƪ)

I did take a break from all of the revamp work that I was doing to go back and write some more of the story, and even to better design some of the characters' backgrounds. I'm not only talking about our main darlings (though they are so so much fun), but also about the side characters that you've met so far.

I know this isn't what I had planned but, at a certain point, with all the readjustments that I was making to the story and all of them being sort of in a similar realm, I was having to nearly force myself to work on the game, which I knew wasn't a good sign.

I really didn't want to risk making a hobby that I like so much into a chore, so I decided to go for a different task for a while, and then alternate between working on the revamp and writing new content when I'm ready.

Sorry for anyone that was hoping the revamp would come sooner! I was too ಥ_ಥ But we have to know ourselves in order to work better with ourselves, and though I'm not a great fan of my limitations, I have to embrace them until I can improve.

Working on a long interactive fiction requires, among other things, tons of dedication, planning, and discipline. A lot of it is kind of kicking my ass, ngl 🤣 But if I am to wait until I no longer have those issues to write...

Finally, on yet another note, I have decided what to do with the abstainers (people that don't choose any division at the start of the adventure) and that, by itself, should bring some exciting news to you guys soon.

I am also trying to read more interactive fiction in my spare time, to try and learn from the amazing authors out there. A good piece of writing advice that I read the other day was "Read a lot, and write every day", and I'm taking it to the heart.

I know quite a few of you are also writers/devs, in which case I wish you peace and strength in the process of sharing your story with others.
