A new game mode: Tetris style building

Unstable
A browser game made in HTML5

The issue

It’s fairly simple: The game was lacking of some kind of mechanic, that was catchy and that added that little bit of “thrill”.

First steps of the solution

So I decided to edit the initial game mode to something that had a bit more thrive in it: I was thinking about integrating the Tetris logic of falling blocks into the existing concept. After some prototyping, this worked quite well. So we have the game mode, where new blocks are falling from the top and you have to place them while they’re still falling. Once they reached the bottom or another block or you stop interacting with the canvas, the block becomes unmodifiable.

Integration in the existing concept

I liked the new idea, but I also liked the older concept. Finally, I decided to integrate both mechanics into the game: On the one hand to make the (old) chilled one, more chilled and create a “Zen mode” for just building up blocks. On the other hand to integrate the new mode as the new default game mode. This was also a nice option to integrate two new tracks I got from some friends of mine (Thanks at Benni and Bene). There are also in alpha states, but I think you’ll get the vibe of it.

Enjoy playing and I’ll be happy to hear your feedback.
