It's October 31 and the Devtober jam is nearly over and Dragon Down has come a long way. I learned quite a bit about drawing sprites and tilesets, composing music and learning lots of the weird quirks of the Godot game development platform. At this point there is a complete (though minimal) quest. There is a basic combat system, interactive dialog and complete cut scenes that integrate well with the autonomous state machines of the AI driven players. I've actually completed more than I had expected to.
I plan to keep working on this project. The major features that still need to be added are items and magic spells. I'd also like to write a real story so my characters can have a proper RPG quest. Also needed are more environments like building interiors, castles, deserts and other fun places to explore.
This update contains bugfixes and polish and gives the story a proper ending. The enemies have also been rebalanced so the fights are a little more fair.
