Hey everyone! It's been a while since I released a proper devlog on Episode 2. I've mainly been focusing on my Patreon, followed by my Twitter and Instagram when it comes to updates. But I think it's high time I dust things off over here and give you some more in-depth news.
So, first things first, the episode's release date is getting shifted from December 10th to February 11th, 2022. There are a couple of reasons for this, such as me wanting to spend more time really polishing the game, and also feeling like it would behoove me to spend more time on marketing. After all, this is the first paid episode of the series and I want to make sure I do the best I can with launch. I just largely worry that even though I could really push to finish the game in less than 1 year, I don't think it's necessary to do that, and in fact it doesn't really help me to do it. Just adding 2 more months will really help me make sure I do a great job and fully polish the game as much as I can. I added polish to Episode 1 after release, which I think is fine for a free game, but I want to do better for a paid episode.
But, with delays comes more features! Namely a fishing minigame I was peer pressured into by some friends. The more I thought about it and talked it over with a couple people, I realized that this adds a lot of interesting gameplay potential and would make Episode 2 and following episodes more engaging. I'll be doing a detailed run-down of all the implications of this minigame mechanic-wise when I finish it, but for now just rest assured that it will have a few interesting uses.
Alright, that's it for now! Will try to figure out a good balance for devlogs from here until launch, because I really need to get back into that!
