When thinking about how I want the game to sound. I wanted to draw references from other fast-paced games. The narrative is essentially the player is a student who realizes they are late for class and must ride through the city on a rented scooter to make it on time. Each level is a self-contained story so different levels would use different locations around Austin.
To capture the urgency and aesthetics of doing cool tricks while riding I believe background music that has a high tempo and a lot of energy would be a good fit. I took a lot of examples from this article: https://www.fanbyte.com/lists/10-video-game-music-tracks-to-boost-your-run-or-an...
For other sound effects, we are going for a retro-pixel style so I downloaded BFXR to create some standard sounds.
