Playtest Release 0.1.0
Playtest 0.1.0 is now available!
This is a massive release - the most notable difference being a brand new test-level (technically speedrunnable!) The files are now also a lot smaller, old (unused) data was removed from the export.
Known Issues
Due to a well-documented side-effect of OpenGL's lazy shader compilation, there will be some initial lag when new materials spawn for the first time. This can include:
- Sliding for the first time (ground particles)
- Silkworm projectile spawns for the first time
- Shooting for the first time
- Spawning plants for the first time (including grappling)
Unfortunately, there is no "fix" for this - except some nasty workarounds which I will have to look into until Godot 4.0 comes out.
Changelog
Features
- New level/assets: A new test level has been built, with brand new assets. The level has a defined endpoint.
- Tutorials: Tutorial text will pop up at certain points to help new playtesters understand the game better. These can be disabled from the pause menu.
- Cooldowns: Have been added back in for balancing purposes.
- SFX: Silkworms now have sound effects.
- Post-Processing: SSAO has been disabled. This may actually have quite a significant performance improvement for lower-end machines.
- It is no longer possible to shoot insanely fast with an auto clicker (there is an internal timer stopping you from doing so).
Bug Fixes
- Fixed an issue which would cause the grapple hook to remain attached to a point even after death
- Fixed an issue where you could hang from a point (using the grapple hook) indefinitely. This was fixed by increasing the minimum grapple hook length to 1m.
