Given all the progress we have made ever since its first release, we have decided to finally update the demo for GENBA no Kizuna, in order to provide you with an experience much closer to what the final game will be like!
If you have already played the demo, I don't think there is enough new content here to warrant another playthrough, epecially if you went through it just recently. It's mostly a whole bunch of minor things that have changed. I've already talked in detail about them in two of our weekly updates over on our website (Prologue Changes, Chapter I Changes), so I'm just gonna leave a quick change log here:
The most notable changes here are the addition of past tense narrative segments (which better help separate Keiichi's thoughts from his narration and which make a few scenes less awkward, now that we don't solely rely on dialogues to convey what's happening anymore), along with the fact that assets that were previously still a work-in-progress (such as the main hall background) are now finished and depict a lot more detail.
One other thing I should probably mention is that the "special demo ending" has not been touched. So, when Himatsu states that "the rest of the game has not been programmed yet" and that finishing it could take "months" or even "years", that's actually not quite accurate anymore!
A lot more of the game has been finished now and we're planning to finally release it next year.
I still really liked the demo ending, however, and decided to keep it as is!
Anyway, if you're curious to check out more of the game beyond what's featured in this demo, we have recently released a Patreon demo that contains the entirety of the first chapter, adding another 28,000 words on top of the already 26,000 contained in this one! It's available to all tiers.
If you just want to get a quick glimpse at what's going to await you in the second half of the first chapter, we also have two short gameplay previews of the investigation in Ryuunosuke's room:
If you decide to check out the demo, please consider leaving us some feedback, so we can further improve the game! We would greatly appreciate it!
