Hullo,
I usually write these on Sundays, but the past week has been REAL productive and busy on a number of fronts. I'll def try to keep folks updated every couple weeks or so-ish, unless I state otherwise.
I've been hard at work animating some new monsters AND some new moves. Whether or not I end up feeling like they're fun and worthwhile will be another question.
In the meantime, here's a quick little preview of a few new standard moves I wanna mess with.
1st move is a low-sweep/juggle-setup, 2nd move is either gonna be a short-range launcher or a guard-breaker.
Next up is a move i definitely planned at one point, but totally forget to draw/implement - a running attack/gap-closer of sorts!
This here is something a bit funkier - the vault-stab. This is designed to be a special combo finisher that propels the attacker into an aerial backflip. Potentially good for slickly transitioning from one enemy to another, or off an enemy and into a wall!
And finally, we have a classic trope. Unlike the current ex-move (slash->slash->slash+kick+down) [codename - hurriance slash] , this attack is designed for launching and crowd-control instead of high damage output. I'm currently planning for it to be the 3rd downward attack of the current grounded combo, OR the 3rd attack of the sweep-and-stab animation mentioned earlier. How many times I'll have it spin before launching foes is also up-for-debate - i was thinking 3 times before launching anyone caught-up in it.
The next couple days will be spent animating a few more ideas, integrating them, and testing the moves. To do them justice, I may also need to create some more elite mobs, like the Elite Goblin I showed a little bit of last week.
Once that done, around next week, I might experiment with giving the player block/parry/grapple mechanics. I also wanna experiment with making it possible to trigger ex-moves at the start of a combo. If stuff looks promising (or dubious) on those front, ya'll will be the first to know.
Take care ya'll~
