Switching Engines

Made the leap from Game Maker: Studio to Unity and have ZERO regrets. YoYo Games has just about irked my nerves for the last time with their GM: Studio 2 which completely removed all D3D functions; oh, and don't let me forget how they 'Sunset' GM: Studio 1 by ending support for GM: Studio 1 and stopped selling GM:S1 modules to port to consoles.

As you can see, this was a no brainer for me and my project since Unity had created a free personal edition, but what I didn't expect was how this engine's abilities would redefine my games appeal and make the levels more engaging.

Aberration's levels work like this: The playing field is on an orthographic camera and includes all the playable objects and the background is a flat plane with a rendered texture from a perspective camera that is animated to move through background scenery objects; thus creating the illusion of flying through space while shooting baddies and dodging asteroids.
