I've just released version 2.0 of Desolate. As with the v1.4 update, this is a big update and includes a lot of behind-the-scenes things in addition to the major item:
Desolate v2.0 includes the Dark Matters 2 expansion!
This brings the digital version of the game up to date with the physical game, other than the Insurgence expansion which I don't believe will translate well to text-based form.
The Dark Matters 2 expansion adds new equipment (Axe, Kevlar Buckler, Mega Oxygen, Minigun, Mirror, Shield, and Power Cell), four new characters, and two exploration locations (Dark Passage and Warehouse).
As before, if you prefer to play without the expansions for whatever reason then create a file named desolate.conf in the same directory as the game executable and add the following lines:
[game] modules=core
If you wanted to include the first Dark Matters expansion then you would instead add:
[game] modules=core;dark_matters
When the game starts it will tell you which modules have been loaded.
I will soon write up a larger description of the options available in the configuration file for those that like to further tweak their gameplay.
