#doodlydefense #update3.1 #balance
Ello!
So you know how we said that there would no more updates - we lied. We had to do a balance pass across Doodly's and the waves. It was identified that Fudge was the overpowered Doodly (finally!).
Fudge's role is to be weaker in the lower levels, but when he's upgraded he is the consistent DPS Doodly, compared to Cupcup who is greater in the early waves but weaker in the later waves (due to low fire rate). Cupcup's DPS 'role' is burst, allowing to alleviate damage pressure from Fudge as you invest in upgrading him. We wanted you to find a balance between these two Doodlys, to make sure you get through the early and late game (and to also make sure that a range of Doodlys were being utilized - not all Fudges for exmaple). You can also see an explanation of the role's of these two Doodlys via this Twitter post.
We have had to nerf Fudge pretty hard. To balance this in a healthy way, we have had to shift some of the damage off of Fudge and put it on the support Doodlys - Old Hydie & Spookums. Doing this allows you to utilize the support Doodlys not just for support but for damage now - again possibly mixing up your Doodly placement strategy.
When it came to adjusting the waves, we noticed the waves (4 - 9) were perhaps too easy, seeing the majority of creepy crawlys die in the first U bend. While we don't think we are finished in the balancing of this area, we have started to tweak and adjust values in this area. We are hoping to make these waves more exciting to play and not residentSleeper; we want the wave to atleast hit 'snail lane'.
Here is the total rundown of the changes this patch - v3.1:
