Over the past week I've remade the core mechanics of the game. Enemies now have multiple states which is much better than just following the player. There are still bugs, if you're in control of an enemy and shoot another enemy it doesn't care and continues doing what it did. There are still some lighting issues and a lot of optimizations has to be done. For the full-time development week I think the progress is good, although I have nothing to compare to. I've also started working on the story a little, on the idea of how you are able to take control of enemies, why you are going on missions which need you to take control of enemies. This is the first time that I've worked on a game full-time and I want to keep developing and improving this game.
During the week I had a bunch of bugs, the enemy AI was sometimes just awfull and would do nothing. The players UI was a total mess, enemies could walk throught walls and doors. Lighting caused massive lag spikes and would make the game unplayable. The enemy sometimes decides it doesn't want to shoot th player and just stands still looking at him. The weapon charging mechanic was broken, you could fire it like it was automatic if there was a frame drop. Most of these bugs I fixed, but still a lot of work has to be done.
The main thing that I want to do is make the gameplay better, right now it's not that interesting and everything feels slow. I'll probably spend a few days fixing all the bugs and maybe drawing some new sprites. Hope I can make more progress next week. I have some ideas on how to improve the core gameplay and hope I'll have time to add some during the next week. Also this is my first ever devlog post so please give any feedback.
