TheIndieDream recently competed in the GMTK Jam 2021. We received very positive feedback on our entry, so much so that we have decided to begin full production on a brand new game using mechanics from the entry. Therefore, Legacy of Embers will be placed on the backburner during development of the new game. We are terribly sorry, but we are very excited to get to work on a game a small community is already excited about!
The purpose of this is to give a little more detail and context on the changes we made in the most recent update, V1.2.1.
WebGL Build - We realized that, with the frequency this game has been changing, it can be cumbersome to download the new file each time for very minor updates. Now, thanks to some feedback we received during our last game jam (disable compression when making WebGL builds in Unity), we were able to build a WebGL player for Legacy of Embers for you to enjoy download-free! Of course, the browser build may not work for all players, so we updated each of the downloadable versions as well.
Crate Spawn Bug Fix - Once we updated the level design, we failed to change crate spawn points to match the new layout. Now your precious crates will stop spawning underground and in other unreachable terrain.
Cleaner Code - I went back through the code for Legacy of Embers and ensured it was rigorously commented and refactored. I am always striving to create cleaner, more legible code! Check it out here: https://github.com/TheIndieDream/LegacyOfEmbers-Source-Code
