Post Jam Patch 1
This is the first post jam patch for Bomb Dash. This update makes some gameplay changes and polishes up the visuals. I don't plan on updating this game much further but I felt it was necessary to address a lot of problems present in the jam version. If I get to fixing certain technical issues with projectiles I might add a few more enemies in a future update. Beyond that I have no further plans for this game, but I hope you enjoy what is here now. Anyway onto the specifics:
Gameplay Changes:
- View expanded to show the entire room at once.
- Removed offscreen indicators since everything is now onscreen at all times.
- Increased enemy awareness to match the upgraded view size.
- Increased cooldown period for dashing.
- Added scaling of enemy spawn chances over time, so harder enemy types are less common at the start.
- Added brief invincibility frames after collecting a health kit.
Graphical Changes:
- Improved enemy and player sprites.
- Gave all enemies warning animations before they attack.
- Added spawn indicators to show where enemies will spawn ahead of time.
- Adjusted the health kit disappearing animation to be a little more obvious.
- Added death animations for enemies and the player.
- Added vines and extra shading to wall tiles.
- Added stars to the main menu.
- Slightly shortened dash trail.
Bug Fixes:
- Fixed a problem on some computers where shadows would draw in darkening lines and flicker erratically.
- Fixed precision issues with dash movement that caused dashes to favor bouncing down and right when given no directional input.
- Fixed a rare problem where the music would not begin playing on start up.
