Announcing a new virtual pet for Mac, Windows, and Linux...
Today a free alpha version (v0.3.3) of G. Pet is available. Development is ongoing, but the alpha version debuts the pet's core functionality.
As your pet survives over multiple days, they will begin to grow through different life stages. After hatching from their egg, your pet will digest once per hour, pooping if they're not adults or their Discipline stat is too low. Of course, digestion lowers the Stomach stat. Your pet's Happiness stat is affected by how hungry they are, your interaction (clicking) with them, winning or losing a card game, and so on. Watch out–because as you spend time with them, your pet may misbehave. Like pooping, misbehavior will give you a chance to raise your pet's Discipline stat. Illness will occur if you don't clean up after your pet. A sick pet will digest its stats away twice as fast. If Stomach, Happiness, and Discipline are all depleted, your pet will not be able to digest, and it will die. Should this occur, you will no choice but to start from a fresh egg. Should your pet grow all the way to an adult, mating will become available, offering you a chance to start from a baby pet without the specter of death hanging over you.
When version 1.0 launches, individual pets will be sold for one-time adoption. For now, just enjoy a look into the development of G. Pet.
