I dumped the Artisan to bring on the Bard. But one of my current players has an Artisan, a winemaster. I felt bad about leaving him out in the cold. So I thought - what class could accommodate a winemaster?
Why not make Cleric more a generalist useful-skills class, not just focused on healing, but instead the Cleric can pick any useful trade, much as medieval monks did? Then a Cleric could be the servant of a healing deity, a blacksmith deity, a brewing deity, or even a vintner god.
That's what I've done.
