As promised, here, finally… is the big update!
There’s now two new biomes: a swamp and a wasteland, as well as reworked biome transitions and “sub-biomes”. But the big change is I’ve reworked the tileset and added transparency to tiles for use with multi layered tile editors and engines.
The simplicity of the original basic tiles hasn’t changed, but the option is now there to push as many overlapping layers as you want allowing for more organic maps. I’ve also included an alternate arrangement of the tileset to show how the tiles are grouped and fit together and to make setting up terrain types for Tiled users easier.
Shadows are now handled with alpha transparencies so buildings, trees and other features can be placed on any tile, including across biome transitions and I’ve included versions of the tiles without the alpha transparency for easier editing.
The asset pack will continue to include the old single layer legacy tiles and if there is enough interest I’ll look in to updating the single layer tileset with some of the new features and changes where possible. I am planning more updates to refine and optimise the tileset based on user feedback and add even more natural and man-made features too.
