Plans for after the game jam
Hello there
So the game was launched in time for the game jam, btw if you haven't played it yet you should give it a try, and now I'm coming up with plans for a post-jam update.
Not entirely sure how long it will take but here's an outline of what will be included in the update.
- "BALLS?" classic
- For those who didn't get to experience it, the original mechanics of the game were that it was a 50:50 chance of getting the direction you wanted. While for some levels this might cause a mild inconvenience on most levels, the level called "BALLS?" was essentially turned into it's own little rage game. I plan on bringing back the original 50:50 system for this level specifically in a "Hard Mode" setting. This will be something available only in the main menu and cannot be played in the regular progression of the game.
- 10 - 15 new levels
- This says it all, I plan to add 10 to 15 new levels into the game.
- These levels will be mixed in with the current ones to make progression of difficulty more smooth.
- These 10-15 new levels will use only currently existing mechanics(The WS-Alt system, the keys, the false walls, and the Death Balls)
- New music and art
- While no new mechanics will be added in the next update, I will be adding new music and art
- 3-4 new songs are planned to be added
- New art to add variety to the levels so you're not stuck staring at solid white or black half the time
- Removing the Game Maker Studio icon from the application window
The current control scheme will remain the same for the time being. This update will not be released until a bit after the game jam has ended so please be patient, I'm also considering trying to port the game to Game Maker 2 since Game Maker 1 is no longer supported.
But I really dislike GM2's pricing model, so this will be a while. Until then, the game will be available on windows only.
P.S. if you haven't checked out the game jam yet I highly recommend it, it's pretty cool to see so many different games
