This may seem super trivial but, for the longest time, I couldn't figure out how to make my staircases look more realistic. Or, I guess, just better. All throughout development, I simply used these staircases:
They worked fine but I kept feeling like I was after something different. Then I thought about perhaps flipping the angle. (That still didn't do it for me). Creating pixel art is still pretty new to me so I have to look at a lot of images to get some of that inspiration. In any case, I was looking at my financial apps on my phone and noticed how much the Personal Capital logo looks just like a staircase. BINGO.
You just never know where you might find your next solution.
(NB: The Personal Capital logo has since changed).
