Thanks to some feedback, I revised Trekkie 1 a touch to make it easier for new players.
First of all, I added some additional HELP text to the beginning of the game:
Type HELP for a list of commands.
Type HELP [command] details on a particular command.
Type HELP PRINT for a printable list of commands.
These HELP commands were already present, but it wasn't obvious to people that there were available, so I decided to highlight them up front to make them harder to miss.
Secondly, I added a feature so that the Short Range Scan always redraws every time you issue a MOVE command. In the good old days, when games like this were played on paper printers, this would have used a lot of paper. But hopefully, we all have screens so that this isn't a problem. However, if you want to disable this feature, just type SRS MANUAL to disable it, or re-enable the feature with SRS AUTO.
Hopefully this will make the game a bit more accessible! I am going to extend the Beta Sale for a few days, in order to give people a chance to check out the new version.
