New Update for Defender of the Turrets : Warp Attack
In this update we integrate the Warp Attack idea and abilities into the game. With these options we are a good step closer to completing the game. These 2 main features open up new ways to play through the game and increase the replay value.
The player must continuously hit incoming enemies with the main turret to fill the warp attack bar. Once the warp attack bar is filled, the warp event is started and the camera changes to a special field of view. After a certain time, the event ends and the camera switches back to its normal state. During the event, special enemies appear that generate additional money and points.
The enemies' life points and warp attack bar are recalculated for each wave.
There are passive and active skills that can be unlocked. Unlocked abilities are saved and loaded in the next session. Tokens to unlock them can be earned during the game after a certain number of waves. The player can activate active abilities with predefined hotkeys 1-4. The passive abilities are of course active as soon as the game starts.
A big part of the design of Defender of the Turrets is the balance in the game. With added features like abilities that affect the entire board in certain ways, it becomes harder to find the right balance. However, this also opens up new ways to play the game and changes how far the player can get.
The warp attack grants the player extra money, which also has an impact on the balance, as the player can buy more or less upgrades depending on their target abilities and the frequency with which they can trigger the warp attack event.

The current game size is about 190 MB and the graphics quality is very low. However, this allows us to make the game available as a web version for Itchio. For future versions we will now switch to a Windows standalone version to increase the graphical quality of the game and to continue to add additional material and features to Defender of the Turrets.
We will also start testing the new Steam Playtest feature. We will keep everyone updated on this.
We are thinking about increasing the speed of the enemies significantly and reducing the number of spawning enemies or reducing their lives. There are a number of options we want to test and pay attention to, as the game feels a bit slow at the beginning.
We would love to hear your suggestions on this.
More Informations coming soon.... Enjoy playing and testing, Leave your Suggestions and Feedback.
