Well, after hundreds of hours of re-familiarising myself, seeking out old music files from long-dead personal projects for reuse, drawing dozens of enemies, and 23 major iterations with dozens of interim builds and playtesting sessions it's finally done:
Chapter One of my dreadful RPG Knight Shift is complete, and I'm uploading it to itch.io!
This has been a massive trip, getting back into RPG maker after nine years away from it - but MV has been completely intuitive and all of those hours with VX Ace made dropping back into this a real joy. I wanted to do a kind of genre fusion thing where everything is interactive, like one of those old LucasArts games, but to also have really finely tuned JRPG battle design (admittedly using the stock battle system) so that I could really push the numbers tweaking of out-of-the-box RPG maker.
Either way; what came out of it is Knight Shift - and I'm really excited to be sharing it. I know that it's using a lot of stock RTP assets, and I have a ton of notes on post-its around my house on what to update and in what order, but the first chapter is at least relatively done now, including some classic intrigue and very JRPG nonsense.
So yeah - thanks for reading, and I hope you choose to download the demo! I've got a few major features in the pipe right now:
Thanks again!
