LIFELIKE: Day 2 - README! How to Update Your Game!

UPDATING YOUR BUILD

Firstly, in order to update your build of LIFELIKE, you must be using the itch.io app! If there is a browser method for updating that is not downloading a new copy, I have not seen it. If there is, I will update this post to include that method. For now, if you are using itch via a web browser, LIFELIKE must be downloaded again if you want an updated copy.

The patches these updates include are for rare bugs that you have probably not found, though I would rather you be playing a version where they won't happen, hence the occasional update here and there. You'll also want to know how to update your build once new episodes and major updates are released! 

For now, the demo/overture cannot be updated in this manner and will need to be downloaded fresh. This is a limitation of itch and I apologize for any inconvenience with updating it! Your save data should still work in a new download if you have not deleted the previous version.

IF YOU HAVE PURCHASED LIFELIKE, this is how to update your build, check for updates, and see what version you are on from inside the itch app:

• From the landing page of the game, you will find a red button in the bottom right corner that either says "Launch" or "Update" 

• If your button says update, click it! Itch will then display that the app is updating. 
• You are good to go when it finishes!

• If the button in the bottom right says "Launch" there is still a way to check if you are on the most recent build. Click the gear on the right of the button. 

• From this menu, click "Manage" on lifelike-win/mac.zip

• This is where you want to be. The simplest option here is to "Check for update" 
  • You should then see this popup with a heart that symbolizes my gratitude for you coming back for a better build of the game, and you are good to go!

• If you want to check if version you have is up to date, look for the number next to the pushpin near the top left, remember it, then click "Switch to another version..."

• Here there will be a list of versions, with the highest number and most up to date at the top. The version number from the previous page should match the top version on this page.
