It's been two weeks since our last Devlog, huh? Gotta say, I missed writing for you guys. TwT
So, about that special project we've been hyping up to you guys for a while now...
Some of you may have already picked up that, later in the 2nd build, there will be a fight scene. Fight scenes by themselves are nothing new in FVNs: you can find them in Adastra, Repeat, Sileo, and so many more...
But I've always felt like those fight scenes were a little too barebones. Like the action was always missing something. It felt like hearing someone talk about The Matrix, instead of watching the movie myself: sometimes, a scene has to be seen for it to matter. As such, I decided to introduce a new idea into the mix, and combine two of my greatest passions together to create something truly spectacular!
If you still didn't catch on, here's our answer to this conundrum: the entire fight scene will be illustrated as if it were a webcomic, with unique panels showcasing the action one step at a time and speech bubbles to portray the dialogue instead of the clunky Renpy textbox! Action scenes will never be the same from now on, and they'll only get better from here!
It is our most ambitious project so far, and our most beautiful to look at to boot. We truly believe this is the next big step for FVNs, and we're proud to unveil some parts of it here before you. Clearly, this isn't the full storyboard, but rest assured: you'll see the full thing very soon, in the Patreon build! And trust me: it looks even cooler in Renpy than it does here! >=3
These images are simply small teasers that we showed our Patreons a few weeks ago: the linework's been perfected since and the whole comic (without color) is available on our Patreon for Dedicated Readers and above. But that's not all: in a few days, we'll release a special pre-release Build 1.9 that will contain all the new backgrounds, character sprites, story elements, and the colorless comic for our Patreons only! The full Patreon Build, with the comic in full color, will release in one to two weeks, and the Public Build roughly a week after that.
Are you hyped yet! You should be! Get ready to have your whole world rocked when NMF Public Build 2 releases in a few weeks!
