Bonaire Level Background

This is a background I made for a level that's set in Bonaire's Salt Flats. I experimented a bit and added a texturizer effect to the whole thing, but I'm not sure it looks better than how I normally do things (with no visual effect added). Does it look good? Should I try to make it look better? Choose a different effect? Should I even use an effect? Is the gif image format even good at trying to show off the effect?
