It was an experience that has stayed with me and formed the germ of an idea that became my latest game - Winsome Heartwood, a solo TTRPG where you explore an otherworldly estate randomly generated by a D6, a deck of cards and the odd corners of your own imagination.
A number of things helped inspire me while writing the game but most notably the most excellent podcast Imaginary Advice and a play session of Thousand Year Old Vampire by Tim Hutchings which lasted several weeks, on and off, and really showed me just how engaging a solo game can be just by offering a little guidance and a lot of room to let your imagination go.
I have also included 60 minutes of ambient drones and abstract noises to accompany your play should you wish - I have always found that sound is so important when really trying to immerse yourself in game.
I very much hope you enjoy the time you choose to spend in Winsome Heartwood and would love to hear about your experience.
