After reading through the feedback, I realized that the current editor I was using to design the level was insufficient. I therefore decided to remake the level using Tiled.
The controls took a while getting used to, but the app works quite nice with the Wacom Intuos tablet that I use, which is a big plus. I also extended the level somewhat to include a final area with enemies that the player has to slay in order to finish the level.
When it comes to the design:
The expected way to beat the level is to do a zig-zag from the bottom left to the top right. The player can jump 5 blocks up and 7 blocks sideways, so the proportions should work out.
