Update 1.07 (02/04/2021) - The Dragon and More...

Hey Hey!

It's for real this time!

So what's in store for this 1.07 update?

NOTE: Gallery is not fully functional at the moment. Some buttons will return you to the main menu.

This update itself is quite big in terms of progress. I did a lot of re-working in the background, revamping the side images and etcetera. I even attempted in creating the gallery menu, which in its current early stage, does the bare minimum and doesn't really have a lot of content in it. But the idea is there!

I have optimised the use of images, by utilising Composites! Now I can create a lot more variation of sprites while keeping the file size significantly lower! Previously, all I did was to create PNGs for every. Single. Variants. Which in the early stages, would be just fine. But in the long run, when newer characters are introduced, and the existing characters are given new items of clothing, the amount of storage used will massive. The same goes for the side images, which has been updated.

Gran, Dave, Norman, Pierre and Roderick assets have been touched up. Some characters have attained new items of clothing too.

The characters also blink too! Only in the most frequently used expressions though (neutral or speaking). Eventually, the rest will be covered, but for now, I think it'll suffice.

Re-did the textbox by making it a bit more minimalistic. The main menu background is now animated. The older rotating backgrounds will no longer be used but I'm planning to keep them and use them later on in the Gallery screen. For throwback sake ;)

Writing-wise, I managed to finish Dave's day 1 and have already worked on Norman's day 1 as well, but I haven't entirely finished it just yet so I've decided to cut it out of the current version build. I did some proofreading for some of the older parts with the help of some nice people. I also added a little bit more to Gran's route because I wasn't entirely happy with its pacing, so that's that.

I've added some newer SFX, GFX as well as backgrounds for new and older scenes. New animations and such have also been implemented.

Oh! And I've also added new assets for the old and new supporting casts such as Dr Sean, Damon, and two new characters that are meant for Gran's 2nd day.

Fixes and Changes:

  • A fair bit of proofreading and help thanks to @GruntSteel, @Shin and Everyone else who've submitted feedback response!
  • Changing the fonts should work correctly as intended now. (It won't stay highlighted as before.)
  • Quick menu now has its own transition. 

New Updates:

  • Dave's first day!
  • Character Sprites now blink! (Only for the most frequently used expression as of now... Eventually, I'll get to all of them.)
  • Animated screens such as the 'Character Select Screen!'
  • New animated main menu theme and layout! (You'll be able to access the legacy main menu screens later down in the Gallery once I implemented them in...)
  • New character sprites for Dr. Sean, and Damon! As well as new support characters that have yet to be revealed in the story...
  • More dialogues.


Future Plans:

  • Make the VN look or feel a bit more animated.
  • Create new clothes for Dave and Gran. (Already a work in progress!)
  • New sprites for side characters and/or main ones. (WIP!)
  • Continuation of the story...
  • To create CG Gallery and/or Music. (In Progress!)
  • Create more CGs.
  • Maybe create a sprite for the MC...?
  • Optimise storage usage. (Reduce file size) Done!
  • Some other things that I haven't really thought about...
  • Re-haul Norman's assets. Done
