Friends,
I have spent the last few months updating Concept as much as I can in my spare time. Thanks to all of your feedback and thoughts, I have been able to patch a boatload of bugs and implement a large number of quality of life and gameplay enhancements. To summarize:
Bug Fixes
- Gravity Collision has been reworked: A number of players ran into issues with clipping and collision for gravity mechanics within the game. The gravity hit detection has been rewritten and should be much more consistent going forward
- Ledge Grab Detection: A better ledge grab detection system has been put in place that identifies scenarios in which a grab is allowed at a more consistent pace
- Entrance Scenarios Re-Indexed: Players of 2.0 found a number of scenarios where entering a stage under certain circumstances caused inconsistent player characteristics (IE they spawned on the ceiling). These scenarios should now be accounted for
- Warp Portals Fixed: Warp portals sometimes did not behave consistently across all scenarios, the method in which the player is transported has been altered
- There are a large number of small fixes you will most likely encounter while playing if you have run previous versions of this game. Please let me know if you encounter any new ones!
Quality of Life Improvements
- Major Art Overhaul: Many stages, objects, backgrounds, and sprites have all been redone or replaced with more thematically appropriate substitutes. You will notice these on almost every stage throughout the game. 90% of placeholder art has been replaced with much stronger placeholder art
- Redesign of Library Hub: The library has been redone in order to be easier to navigate, as well as recontextualized with the replacement of existing (terrible) art style
- Rework of Various Obstacles: Many scenarios in the game, from deathzone placements to laser timings, have been redone to improve player experience
- Additional Location Text: More areas in the game have been identified to allow players to better understand where they are in context of an overall level
