These ladders allow the player to climb up and down. But more importantly the enemies can also use these ladders this makes some really interesting level design possible. Enemies could split off from their main path and join up with other enemies in different parts of the level. This small addition makes our enemies a lot more dynamic.
We decided to add enemy healthbars to add more player feedback on how much damage you've done, besides the already existing change in hue of red that the enemies get when being hit depending on how much damage they received. The player too has a healthbar now on the screen UI.
The Farmer, Archer and Paladin were modeled and implemented into the game. Here you can see them without the shaders yet applied.
