Welcome back for another Demox log entry!
This time I’m going to talk some more about the AI for the game and what I aim to achieve- or atleast what my initial plan is.
As described in my previous post there are currently two factions of AI, the friendly ”Human” faction and the hostile ”Demon” hordes. I’ve set things up though so that more factions can be added if necessary, and I am considering it- perhaps for wild predators that should engage both of the other factions.
So to start things off, let’s go through my primary goals for the AI in Demox.
– A game world that feel more alive than LBKR did, this includes AI that show more presence and that interact with the player, game world and eachother alot more than what the AI in LBKR did. ( AI in LBKR were idiots really, let’s be honest )
– Possability for the player to hire friendly AI to accompany him into battle.
– Maintain LBKR’s style of ”DPM” intelligence to allow making some AI more alert and some more sluggish-acting, more on this subject later!
– Simple setup, with a way of dynamically adding/removing decision behaviour types to different enemies.
– Situational Awareness in combat aswell as AI cooperation
