So far the story is simple:
Player meets giant > makes giant remember things > leaves.
As far as reminding things go, I decided it should at least be a little bit puzzling. So far I have decided on 5 scenes. Each connected through certain gates that open up after player cleans up the scene. The scenes go:
Bedroom > Fishing on the pier > Watching TV with family > Working in the workshop > Basement.
This progression however doesn't allow player to finish the game. Things just don't click for the giant. Player is not allowed to say goodbye to him. They fall into a loop of cleaning memories. A catalyst event is needed to access the dialogue tree at the end.
What will allow player to finish the game is going through the memories backwards, discovering a new connection between the scenes. The idea is that the player is not only traveling through locations, but also different moments in time. So the second part would be:
Basement > Working in the workshop > Fishing on the pier > Watching TV with family
But the last scene the player arrives at is different from the one that they've seen before. This time there are other family members present for giant to recognize. Opening up new dialogue opportunities. Here is a chart that should be the absolute solution of the game:
