Let's just say, I've learned a lot. Like, a heck of a lot. I feel like there's nothing I can't make RPG Maker do now, and no sooner did I finish working on this than RPG Maker MZ was released.
So, because I wanted to fool around with the new engine, I started working on my next project. And thus, the standalone sequel to Memeal Mantasy: Fystic Quest is almost finished. There is actually a really old alpha video hidden in Fystic Quest of the game if you managed to defeat the final hidden superboss. I'm calling it a standalone sequel because unless you are looking for the connection, you probably won't notice it. A player not familiar with Fystic Quest might find an odd reference in some obscure text, but it isn't going to send up enough red flags to make you think it's a reference to something else.
That is, after all, the best way to hide your gems.
The project is about 70% of the way finished, and thus far because it is a much simpler game, it is subsequently much cleaner. At this time, it needs another two or three passes on the dialog and story, some touch-ups on the maps and graphics, pretty much all of the magic systems, but all-in-all, things are progressing well. All of the bones are there and the pre-alpha version is completely completable. There should be a release before Summer 2021 unless I run into something I really didn't expect.
If you find more bugs in this game, let me know, and if they are easy enough and don't require a complete rewrite of the system, I'll still publish updates for Fystic Quest.
But, I'll see you when the next game starts.
