If you have videos in 4K you can set the scale to 0.5, it will use less memory and be a little faster, it affect a little the interpolation, but not by much. Doing this to lower resolutions affect the interpolation by a lot.
If you have pixel-art or really small resolution files, setting scale to 2 or 4 can increase the interpolation result a little:
Check the legs.
Scale don't affect the output resolution, its just a internal scale the code use to calculate some stuff.
