Steam is an absolute nightmare to use

Emberglass
A downloadable game for Windows and macOS

I kind of wish everyone would just use itch instead of Steam. It's a nightmare to use, it's expensive, and really the only thing it adds to the experience is their whole achievements system. Personally, even as a game player I prefer itch's set up for buying and playing games (I don't care about achievements, natch). But when it comes to uploading and selling games? Itch is much more preferred. Steam is a NIGHTMARE. I've only had issue after issue, and now a bug in Steam's system is keeping it from going live on steam, AND they haven't responded to any of my inquires. Looks like they just took my hundred bucks and are laughing about it.

If it weren't *the* platform joe schmoe common gamer used, I wouldn't even bother with Steam.

On the plus side, I think I have my next game idea. A massive JRPG that takes place in a sprawling victorian city. Think Mieville's Perdido Street Station or Vandermeer's Ambergis books, or even Gormenghast. It will have that look and feel, but combined with a jrpg, and gigantic. No overworld map, it all takes place in the city, and the city will be as large as most JRPG's themselves. Sprawling, mamoth, multi-tiered. Think how A Link to the past does dungeons, but instead of one or two layers to walk between, you have 5 or 6 or 12. Each layer being a different sprawling area, with bridges between buildings, being able to shimmy up drain pipes, climb on roofs, jump from house to house.

It will take a lot of work, but oh my. It will be fantastic.
