Improvements:
Bugs: The current version of Yuki, which is available at the Museum of ZZT, is 100% playable, but there are some minor bugs that detract from the experience. The new version fixes these bugs.
Difficulty and Accessibility: Yuki is a difficult game, and borderline unfair in places. The new version makes certain puzzles more legible and is more generous with health and ammo. It will still be a challenging game, but I hope a bit more fair and fun and accessible. I've also made one puzzle that normally requires sound playable without sound. The new release will also include a walkthrough.
Graphics: Yuki has a quirky and eclectic aesthetic that I won't change, but I am making a few small changes. The biggest one is the removal of annoying flashing effects that I was taken with at the time. Another graphical change is the menu, which I never liked and which felt thematically out-of-place. You can watch a clip of the new menu (featuring a new composition that I composed with the help of WiL) here.
New Content: I am not planning on adding too much to the base game, but I do have a few things planned. Tonight I finished a prototype of a new first level that better introduces the player to unique gameplay mechanics than the previous first level. The old first level remains and will be the new second level. I've also made some tweaks to the dialogue and will add a few fun easter egg things.
So that's the plan! Follow me for more updates, and to hear when 1.5 is officially released!
