#rpgmaker #dual-wield #update
Greetings all.
I have uploaded a new version of the dual wield plugin for MZ. This one is a doozy, so bear with me here.
As mentioned above, new changes to VSBattleCore have deprecated a large part of what this plugin did. By making it so that the attack skill swings both weapons, shows correct animations per hand, and deals damage and effects based on the traits of the weapon currently being swung, the vast majority of what this plugin did in battle is no longer needed. These functions have been removed, so that the functions that actually still work can continue to do so without interfering with the battle system.
After this update, several actor related changes remain in effect:
Going forward, I will be working to make the original functionality of this plugin work without the VSBattleCore plugin. This will allow people who do not use the VS plugin library to make use of this plugin, much in the same way as that the shield block plugin for MZ has no plugin requirements. This isn't something that will happen overnight, but it is on the list of stuff to do.
I have uploaded an older version of the dual wield plugin as well, listed as version 1.03. This version is the last version that worked with the VSBattleCore, and will only work as long as you are using an outdated version of it (version 1.22 or below).
If you have recently purchased this plugin, (since Jan 22, 2021) and feel that the above equipment related changes no longer justify the cost, I will be processing refunds on this plugin. I understand that the current plugin functionality is pretty lackluster, compared to what it once was, and I will be more than happy to return your payment if it is no longer worthwhile for you.
I also left the disabled code, and plugin parameters in the plugin, so the more java savvy of you can attempt to restore some of the missing features, if you feel inclined to do so.
The next version will (hopefully) no longer require the VSBattleCore plugin to work, so that should make it much more approachable for everyone.
That's all for this update. Keep on rpgmaking.
