Orb Runner's largest content update is here!
Our latest update for Orb Runner introduces 2 new gamemodes, 6 new achievements and major changes to every level in the game!
There's 2 new gamemodes in the latest update: Orb Runner and Time Trial.
Orb Runner
Orb Runner will put players into a scenario where they're required to collect the given number of Orbs 2 minutes (plus the player stat time) and return back to the finish. Blue Orbs will provide 1 point to this counter while Pink Orbs will provide 5. Once the player has collected the required Orbs, points and Player XP are doubled for each additional Orb until the next level. If you're playing on All Levels, this multiplier is quadrupled (x4) since the difficulty is amped up. How is the difficulty increased for All Levels? Well, the required number of Orbs is nearly at the level's total orb count and will require a high Player Level to complete the level in time.
Time Trial is where you will want to go if you're looking to something more competitive. If you're wanting to go for speedrun records, compete with friends by comparing times or by simply trying to beat your own time, this is where you'll want to be. All Player Stats are unused here and uses standardised stats instead. This means everyone who plays Time Trial regardless of their level will move at the same speed, have the same amount of time on the clock and exactly the same stamina stats. This is an equal playing field.
What's a new content update without some new achievements to go with it?
These 6 new achievements goes with the 2 new gamemodes where 3 are for Orb Runner and the other 3 for Time Trials. For Orb Runner, they're the standard complete X level but you'll get a pretty good XP reward for the All Levels achievement due to the difficulty. As for Time Trial, I have added in some achievement requirements based on my own time plus a few seconds to make it a bit more fair. I wish you guys luck on beating these times.
Every level in the game has gotten some changes from adjusting the aesthetics to improving the gameplay flow from platform to platform. The largest issue with the levels was Pack 2's insanely difficult long jumps that were 1 unit tall. The player had to make the perfect jump to land it and these jumps were pretty common. All of these jumps including a few others that were difficult entirely other reasons have been nerfed. You'll find it far easier to navigate these levels but the overall challenge the level presents is still there. Some other changes have also been made regarding Orb placement, adding additional Orbs and improving level layouts.
That's just about it on points to discuss. Below you will find the list of changes this update provides. Not every level adjustment will be listed here but rather broad points on major changes to each level.
