#New Encounter
I've been debating over the past few days whether to keep doing this Devlog as I update the game. Since it's truly only about 40% complete. There is so much work to be done. Art for backgrounds, and sprites. Storyboarding for more encounters. Music is covered thankfully which takes a huge weight off. Art for anything outside of the game will be handled as well. So anyone reading these and testing the game will essentially be experiencing a broken game that may or not be close to the experience I want them to have and feel.
Ultimately, I decided to keep doing it this way. Why? It's a blast.
So before I get into Devlog business I want to talk about that a bit. Indie Game Developer John Stejskal has a great video on game dev motivation killers. One of the first he mentions is one I've been guilty of in almost every project I desire to do, not just gamedev. Over sharing. I get excited and naturally I want those close to me to be excited with me. So I share an info dump of pictures, text, ideas, of something I want to or have been working on. Sometimes they are happy for me, sometimes they are a little cooler in response. That is fine. Either way a lot of time my motivation feels almost sapped from me.
This feels a little different. I can turn off comments, I can make a post about a specific new aspect of my game. Anyways, maybe more on that sort of thing in another update.
