Update #1 | An Acolyte Launch Day FAQ

Launch day! Ahh! Thank you to everybody that has checked out the game on Itch.io so far. 

Have you checked out the Acolyte announce trailer yet? 

Superstring has been hard at work on Acolyte since the launch of our first game, Headspun, and today we've finally revealed it to the world. Not only that, we've released a playable demo, and people are literally playing it right now. Scary stuff. 

In the short time the game has been available, we've had a bunch of questions come through, so I thought I'd assemble here for the benefit of the masses.

IS ACOLYTE STILL IN DEVELOPMENT,?

It is! Acolyte: Prologue is the first third or so of the game, with development ongoing to bring the finished game, with its full and final feature-set, to release. The demo is feature/story complete, but not representative of final quality. The whole reason behind the Prologue is to watch people play, observe how they interact with their Acolyte, and iterate and improve on the dialogue and story flow. 

ACOLYTE HAS ‘ARG ELEMENTS’? WHAT DOES THAT MEAN!?

It means that the game also takes place outside of the game client itself. To unravel Acolyte’s mystery and solve some of its puzzles, you’ll need to expand your thinking, and be prepared to think outside the box….

I'M STUCK ON PUZZLE [x] - WHAT DO I DO? 

Firstly, please don't post story/puzzle spoilers here on itch or otherwise - half the fun is working out what to do here, but they can involve some 'out of the box thinking'. If you're really stuck and think there might be a proper, real life bug - please get in touch [support[at]superstring[dot]studio

I'VE FOUND A BUG!

Ack! I'm sorry! Acolyte will be receiving updates as development continues. Please let us know your issue, and we'll fix up asap for you. Apologies for any trouble here. 

DO I NEED AN INTERNET CONNECTION TO PLAY?

Not as such, no. You can play Acolyte without any connection at all, but in order to experience the full story and be able to solve certain puzzles, you will need access to various web pages.

WHY DOES ACOLYTE HAVE A PORTRAIT RESOLUTION?

Acolyte is designed to emulate a mobile device. The full release will also be coming to mobile, but the PC version also retains this resolution to best suit it’s design. The game is also designed to be played in a way that allows you access to other windows and tabs…

DO I GET A STEAM KEY WITH THE TRANSCENDENT EDITION?

Yes! Anybody that purchases the Transcendent Edition buys into the full game at an early bird price, and also secures a Steam key and future milestone builds of the game (should they wish to play - some may prefer to wait until it's final). 

 I’M A WRITERY/VIDEO MEDIA-TYPE PERSON, DOES ACOLYTE HAVE A PRESS KIT?
