Demo Update - I am the Lore-UX, I speak for the GUIs.
ScrabdackleA downloadable game for Windows, macOS, and Linux
(This is me stealth-launching update 06, btw!)
So... the new GUI is now out!
For the time being, I'm not going to 'proper' announce this yet, and will wait until the next 06 patch is ready to make it clear a big release has dropped - ie. , when the lore system is released.
For now, I just wanted to get the new GUI out there as early as possible! It's too good on quality-of-life to hold back :)
Mini-changelog here, and then I'll do my usual longer one when the lore stuff comes out.
Quick changelog:
- UI sidebar now features tooltips to better describe UI elements and their purposes.
- Health now represented by pink vials, with corking visual system for hitless-run tracking.
- Magic reserve now represented by condenser coil.
- Spells and abilities can now be swapped-between directly on the sidebar.
- Note - this won't matter yet until you have multiple of a given ability type, but I'm hoping to add a small secondary ability later in 06 so you can then swap between it and the lore spell as-needed.
- Logbook added to the sidebar menu - although I've temporarily disabled the ability to open it.
- Controls reference added to sidebar menu.
- Some less critical menu elements moved into the "Key Items Pouch," now in the sidebar - notably, octahedrons and stars. In the future, quest items will show up here, etc.
- A few bugs fixed that I also introduced while making the above systems.
- A few outstanding bugs: Notably, the wizard will not occasionally fail to shoot when your back is against a wall anymore, and you shouldn't occasionally see any blank dialogue boxes.
As I've covered in the past few devlogs, there's been a huge amount of refactoring and building better versions of existing systems (which was necessary and planned-for - just still a big time investment), plus building the lore system itself. So, no content changes here, just hopefully a nice quality-of-life boost, with several more to come over January as I continue releasing 06 builds.
I'm hoping to get the logbook out in a week-sh, including some bugfixes then. See ya soon!
( I know it's not pronounced "gooey" btw - I couldn't resist the gag ._. )
