In Development: Deep Rune, a Spiritual Successor to Myth Bearer!
Hello all, been a while! I just wanted to announce that development of a spiritual successor to Myth Bearer has begun, and it's called Deep Rune!
Deep Rune is still only in the conception phase, but here's some key features that I have planned:
- Gameplay will be similar to Myth Bearer, except it'll be a side-scroller rather than top-down (there's a good reason for this, but I'm not going to spoil it). ;)
- Hand-crafted non-linear world. This is NOT a rogue-like! (we have enough of those already)
- There will be an in-depth character creator, including customization of your name, character sprite, origin, traits, and a pre-game item shop.
- You'll be able to swim and climb up ledges and ladders.
- Critical attacks: attacking enemies from behind deals double damage.
- No inventory limits (you can now carry as many items as you can find).
- Durability system (this will make using weaker weapons/armor useful & adds an extra layer of strategy).
- Rune-based magic. Combine various runes to cast a variety of spells, including one that creates climbable ladders. ;)
- World-changing story events will be returning, some of which are based on your character's origin.
- New "modifiers" feature, which allows you to customize the game's difficulty.
