A Return Before Another Break
Christmas is coming next week, so I'm doing my best to get as much done now as I can. And it's coming along well.
New Stuff
- There are now on-screen elements for ship status. The original tab is still there and in the future will contain more in-depth detail.
- Added a timer display for the music player.
- Added various UI sounds.
Updated Stuff
- Updated controls page.
- Adjusted mass calculations in regards to the ship gaining more mass when carrying more cargo.
- Music player UI made to be more compact.
- Updated text for delivery buttons and related UI, including displaying total mass.
Bug Fixes
- Fixed a bug where the music player would not go to the next song when current song is finished.
- Fixed the custom cursor not displaying properly in-game.
- Fixed a bug that stopped interactions with store menus due to overlapping UI.
- Fixed a bug where the music would not start playing on the main game scene until the player opened the music player.
- Fixed the bug with the overlaying station menus.
- Fixed a bug where the ship would continue to operate even when out of fuel.
Further Comments
As you can probably tell, not a ton of new things getting added this close to Demo Day. A lot of my time working on it is mostly refinement. This is partly due to Yakuza 7 taking even more of my time than I expected and having a considerable laundry list of stuff I want to add. That said, the new demo is going to be a considerable jump up in quality compared to the last one. Took in a lot of the feedback since that last one and put in as much of it as I could within these last 8 months. Still a lot I want to add following Demo Day though.
- Getting something resembling NPCs in would be nice.
- More dynamic pieces of debris instead of having them be static until they're interacted with.
- New mission types.
- Making player reputation actually mean something.
- New accessories and ship types.
Those are all elements I'd like to get working in the new year.
But to be quite honest, I am half tempted to abandon this project. So if Demo Day's feedback is overwhelmingly negative, I think I'll just polish up a few things and call it a day.
Anyway, I still have a lot of work to do and a good amount of playtesting to get done; so I'll get to that. Later.
