RPS 0.3 UPDATE!
WHAT'S NEXT?
After getting the rest of the art for
the first two characters done and the game mechanics more refined, we
had the idea of adding additional couples to the game. Something like a
roster of 4-6 different pairs that you can choose from, and play either
character. We'll do our best to make more Patreon content and decide our
next steps when the time comes.
Once the base code is tightened up, the plan is either to start prototyping other basic game types, or begin work on a more "action game" game mode that is more involved than just picking an option.
DETAILED NOTES!
I had a lot of stuff based on animation updates, which just proves to be wholly unreliable. I moved everything to counter-based systems that are much more predictable overall. This should have the result of making animation and gameplay loops more reliable. It could also break a lot of things, because the fixes were all tangled up with each other.
Massive rework on the slider that displays the in-game pictures. I kinda wanna scrap the whole thing and start fresh, but it's working well for now. Something about the way I set it up initially was causing some really strange behavior in my final bug fixing, but I think it's been hammered out.
A Patreon pointed out how to add randomize code, which was a lot of help. It was one of those things I was looking at too hard and missed an easy step in the guide. The AI won't throw the same rolls on each boot now.
The Gallery system is in a rough stage, but it should be largely functional. This was the last thing to COMPLETELY break on this new build by some change I didn't realize I made. If there are issues here, they'll be fixed up as the rest of the content flows in to fill up the WIP slots.
Big updates to the idle animations. The rest of the sprite work should get this same rework pass. Hopefully it brings some more life into the characters! The rest of the update is a ton of beautiful art by Craft Rabbit, we hope you enjoy the new work!
Take care, and stay well!
