We concluded our open beta with 20 responses from our peers. This gave us great insight into what we need to fix and improve upon in our level.
First and foremost, an overwhelmingly number of participants said that we need more direct and clear instructions to guide the player through the level. We knew coming into this beta that our level was lacking in this department, so this result wasn't really much of a surprise to us.
Second, our level was made using Unity's High Definition Render Pipeline, so we wanted to make sure that our game was playable on all types of computers. From the feedback we received, it seems like only those with very low end machines weren't able to run the game very well. Everyone using mid-high end machines were perfectly fine.
The last biggest area of concern was some of the sounds. There were a few responses telling us that we needed to adjust the game sounds in some way, whether it be changing the footstep sounds, tweaking the volume of things, or adding pickup noises for the collectables. This isn't a particularly hard area of the level to mess with, so hopefully we'll be able to adjust everything according to the feedback.
