After spending quite a bit of time on it, I got the general migration algorithm to spread population much faster than before. The changes involved a lot of analysis, simplification and tweaking of the cell evaluation algorithm. Here's a small sample of the migration speed (Note: decision events are disabled, so the simulation is running much faster than it normally would):
I'm currently working on reimplementing the encroachment algorithm, which will help tribes take territory out of unorganized bands (and vice-versa). Hopefully I can get that done before the end of the week so that I can start tweaking tribal migration, which right now is acting very wonky after all the changes I made last week.
