Whitebox Playtest Feedback (Jiaxin)

Orphy's Quest
A browser game made in HTML5

With the feedback we received from students playtesting, our game seemed a little spaced out. The houses inside the village is really spread out, making it time consuming for the players to move from area to area (takes around a minute to go from one end to another without any interactions yet) while the forest area is really tight together. Our team would definitely adjust the placing of the assets so that the houses are more dense together and increase the spacing outside the village to make the exploring the forest area possible. Although some said that the space makes it great for the players to explore the village, I believe adding more obstacles, NPCs, houses, or even backyard of houses will increase the aesthetic feel of the game.

When I playtested through the overall whiteboxing, I have noticed that my team members changed the size of the player to make them fit through the houses, so now the enemies and herbs I have placed outside the village look really big in comparison to the player. We definitely need to work on improving that as well. There are some areas I realized that the player can fall through the plane since the placing of the trees are not tight together. To solve this problem, my team decided to use terrains with mountains and hills (like one of the playtest feedback mentioned) to border the forest rather than trees.
